When Exhaustion Becomes a Workplace Signal

An exhausting week deserves attention even when you remain productive. Notice whether you are recovering between workdays or simply pushing through them. Productivity alone does not tell you whether your current pace is sustainable.

If you feel drained before your first appointment, examine the schedule around it: preparation, documentation, travel, and responsibilities at home. Bring concrete examples to a workload conversation. Describing the work makes it easier to discuss changes than describing yourself as unable to cope.

Research connection

WHO describes burnout through exhaustion, job-related distance or cynicism, and reduced professional efficacy; it is an occupational phenomenon. [1]

Put it into practice

List the demands that expanded this month. Identify one task to simplify, defer, or redistribute. If distress extends beyond work or persists, discuss it with a qualified health professional.
