Turn Trauma-Informed Values Into Observable Practice

Values become more useful when people can see how they influence decisions. Instead of relying on a statement that your organization cares, identify the behaviors that demonstrate respectful communication, fair processes, and a willingness to learn.

Look at a recent concern from the employee’s perspective. Was there a clear reporting route? Did someone acknowledge it? Was follow-up timely? Use the answers to improve a specific process. No single checklist establishes that a workplace is safe for every person.

Research connection

Edmondson found an association between team psychological safety and learning behavior. The study does not establish causation across all settings. [1]

Put it into practice

Choose one leadership practice to review over the next month. Define what staff should observe and how they can give feedback. Share what you learn and identify the next action.
