Turn information into a useful decision.

MindShift Evaluation Starter Packages

Right-sized evaluation support for organizations ready to ask focused questions, examine evidence, and act on what they learn.

Illustrative research collaboration and planning
Evidence with a purpose. Decisions with a next step.

Designed for application

Start with the decision you need to make.

For community organizations, helping-profession programs, and workplace initiatives seeking a manageable evaluation cycle.

A decision-first brief that prevents unnecessary data collection.

An indicator-selection exercise that limits the dashboard to useful measures.

A missing-voices review to examine whose experience the data does not represent.

A counter-evidence discussion that tests alternative explanations.

A decision rehearsal that turns a report into assigned actions.

Choose a starting point

Three clearly scoped packages.

Starting organizational prices in USD for one virtual program at one site. A written proposal confirms scope, timing, total fees, and payment arrangements.

Starter Evaluation Pilot

$9,500Starting organizational package

Organizations ready to test a manageable evaluation cycle and use its findings.

  • One program, one site, and one 60-minute kickoff
  • Review of up to 10 program documents
  • One existing de-identified dataset, up to 1,500 rows and 30 variables
  • Either up to six 45-minute program-staff interviews OR one nonclinical feedback survey with up to 100 invitations
  • Two 90-minute learning labs and a full evaluation report

Additional programs, sites, collection, travel, transcription, advanced analysis, or major data cleaning require a separate scope. Collection starts only after required permissions and review determinations. These packages do not provide IRB approval, a grant award, or a guarantee of findings.

Learn · rehearse · apply

Three learning labs. Useful evidence.

Use the kit to plan a project, practice interpretation, and turn findings into action. Package inclusions determine which client labs are delivered.

Lab 01

Start with the decision

Turn a broad concern into a bounded evaluation question.

Teaching points & guided practice
  • Name who will use the findings and what decision they face.
  • Separate activities and outputs from the outcomes the program hopes to influence.
  • Choose only the questions that can be answered with available time and evidence.

Practice: Work backward from a keep, change, expand, or stop decision. Build a one-page program map and select three questions.

Output: Decision brief, logic model, and prioritized evaluation questions.

Lab 02

Choose and check the evidence

Build a practical indicator plan and identify data limitations.

Teaching points & guided practice
  • Define each numerator, denominator, time window, and source.
  • Check missing records, duplicates, inconsistent values, and whose experience is absent.
  • Use descriptive comparisons responsibly; a change alone does not establish a cause.

Practice: Analyze a fictional training dataset, find the correct comparison group, and explain what cannot be concluded.

Output: Indicator matrix, data dictionary, quality log, and calculation notes.

Lab 03

Turn findings into decisions

Create an evidence brief that supports a specific next action.

Teaching points & guided practice
  • Distinguish what was observed, how it was interpreted, and what is recommended.
  • Consider alternative explanations and conflicting information.
  • Assign a decision owner, an action, and a date to revisit the result.

Practice: Hold a decision rehearsal: one group presents a finding, another challenges the inference, and a third proposes a feasible next step.

Output: Findings brief, decision log, and 30/60/90-day use plan.

From planning to follow-through

Clear purpose. Practical next steps.

Agree on the scope

Confirm the sponsor, audience, decision or learning goal, dates, accessibility needs, and responsibilities.

Prepare and participate

Check data readiness, permissions, and the agreed analysis and learning activities.

Review and use the learning

Discuss limitations, rehearse decisions, and assign actions with owners and review dates.

Purposeful feedback and reporting

For staff-group feedback, the default minimum is 10 valid responses per reported item or subgroup, followed by disclosure review. Smaller results are withheld. This precaution does not guarantee anonymity. Data access, collection methods, retention, and reporting are agreed before launch.
